The Hotel SONNALM is located at the intersection of 2 lifts: Sonnenwiesenbahn 100m from the hotel and Maibrunnbahn, which can be reached via the connecting lift "Trattnig" in 150m. Our guests like to ski to the Nockalm and Brunnach in the morning, as it is very sunny here. In the afternoon, they take the long runs of the Kaiserburg, Strohsack and Maibrunn. Bad Kleinkirchheim has some very nice long runs, thanks to our sheltered location there is little wind, lots of sun and natural snow up to 1200m. Our mountain railroads are experienced snow producers and they support Mrs. Holle. The entire area can be covered in snow in 4 days if the temperatures are right.

Alpine Advent in Bad Kleinkirchheim

Vanillekipferl, Austrian jam-filled cookies, Linzer cookies,… the sweet scent of freshly baked bisciuts fills the air. With great care and love, Pei and the kitchen team create delicious Christmas treats and food.

Baked apples simmer in the oven, mulled wine is prepared, and stars and colourful baubles are arranged throughout the hotel. The days leading up to Christmas Eve are a busy time. Our host Gerhard brings in the Christmas tree, and together we transform the Sonnalm into a festive, sparkling retreat. A heartfelt thank to our long- serving team: everyone knows just what to do, and in no time the whole hotel shines. Everybody is ready to welcome our guests, both new and returing ones, and everybody can feel it: Hotel SONNALM is their second home!

On 19.12.we visit the Christkindlmarket of Bad Kleinkirchheim,next to Hotel SONNALM. The market square around the Kathrein, the twinkling lights and the charming stalls showcasing Carinthian handicrfts invite us to immerse ourselves in the festive atmosphere as Christmas Eve draws near.
